Josh Arnone and Jason Nazario, from Little Bonne Femme Baptist Church in Columbia, MO, set out to participate in the Missouri River 340 race July 19-22, 2011. This annual race pits teams of canoe and kayak paddlers against one another, starting in Kansas City and finishing in St. Charles. Josh and Jason decided to use their participation to raise money that would provide clean water in Ethiopia, a country in which some 76% of the population lives without safe drinking water. Josh and Jason asked their friends and others to support their cause by making a contribution directly to Water is Life International (a CBF Partner), which builds wells in Ethiopia.
Through Water is Life International, one well is built for approximately every $5,000 dollars raised, providing water for over 250 people. The CBF Giving Circle Grant provided that amount toward the Big Muddy/Clean Water goal of $20,000.
