Roma Partnership

Helping Roma Christians through education and economic development

Roma Partnership

CBF Heartland works with Roma Christians on community and education projects in Slovakia and pastor training in Romania. We encourage you to learn about and experience this vital partnership.

Highlights

September 2013 – a small group worked with Devleskero Kher, providing examples of mentoring and being mentored by others. The group also visited the Vazec community to meet local leaders, build relationships and plan for future engagement. While in the area, they visited the Grand Tatras and a castle in the city of Poprad.

Summer 2012 – Twelve persons focused their work with Devleskero Kher (God’s House), the Roma church in Kosice.  Mornings were spent painting classrooms of the Koptova School.  Afternoons were spent in VBS-type activities with children and recreation with older youth and young adults. The group also visited Auschwitz, where many Roma and Jews were killed by Nazis in World War 2.

Summer 2011 – Eight persons worked alongside Christians in Cinobana.  The team constructed a pavilion at a church/ministry center alongside local workers. Team members led a Bible study and cooking class with local Roma women. Others assisted the teacher with English classes in the local elementary school.

Fall 2010 – Five persons made a scouting visit with Dianne and Shane McNary throughout Slovakia.  The group assisted the McNarys with strengthened local relationships and made plans for future trips.
