Join deacons and lay leaders from across the Heartland to explore your call to Christian service and spiritual leadership.
Our featured speaker is Dr. Daniel Vestal, Distinguished University Professor of Baptist Leadership and Director of the Eula Mae and John Baugh Center for Baptist Leadership at Mercer University. From 1996 to 2012, Dr. Vestal served as the Executive Coordinator of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship.
Insights from Daniel Vestal’s book, Exemplars: Deacons as Servants and Spiritual Leaders, and experiences from deacons and ministry leaders will inform and inspire all who attend.

Who should attend?
Deacons and lay leaders are the main focus of the event; but ministers, committee members, Sunday School teachers and other church members are also invited to take part. Insights and challenges from retreat leaders and group discussion will benefit all participants.
What is the focus of the retreat?
Attendees will be challenged to grow as servants and spiritual leaders in the church. The structure and aim of leadership groups such as diaconates will be an important emphasis of the event.
